Columbia Falls is the official Gateway to Glacier National park.
Welcome to Columbia Falls, Montana. First settled in 1891, with hopes the railroad would actually pass this way, and as anticipated, it was incorporated in 1909. The name was to be Columbia, Montana, however concerns of confusion with Columbus, Montana, led to “Falls” being tacked on. Definitely optimistic bravado on the part of the namers. Although there are some rocks, and swift-moving water on the Flathead River adjacent to the town, by no stretch are there waterfalls, as one would imagine.
Those are all further up the river into the mountains. Through the years C-Falls, as it’s known to locals, has made its way as a logging town, railroad town, and once hosted a large aluminum plant. In the most recent years, the town has gone through a little change, by embracing the travelers that have been recreating in this area for decades, in earnest!
What once was a blue-collar working downtown now hosts a bevy of food, drink, and shopping options! We encourage you to spend some time tooling around Columbia Falls, and you will be happy with the neighbors you meet!
Come and experience the wonders of Glacier National Park, the warmth of Columbia Falls, and the comfort of Urban Woods. Your unforgettable adventure awaits!
